The son of Tate Langdon and Vivien Harmon is all grown up… and ready to destroy the world.
American Horror Story finally returned to our screens with a bang, literally. Yes, children, the apocalypse is upon us, the AHS universe as we know it no longer exists and judging by what happened at the end of the first episode, it doesn’t look like things are going to get any better for the survivors – thanks to Michael Langdon.
The first few episodes of AHS: Apocalypse introduced us to some brand new characters; Venable (Sarah Paulson), Ms Meade (Kathy Bates), Mr Gallant (Evan Peters), Evie Gallant (Joan Collins), Coco (Leslie Grossman), Mallory (Billie Lourd), Dinah (Adina Porter) and Emily and Timothy played by newcomers Ash Santos and Kyle Allen. But it was Michael Langdon (played by newcomer Cody Fern) who really peaked everyone’s interest.
Die-hard fans of AHS will know Michael’s true identity and parentage but if you were sat there wondering “Who is he?!” you weren’t the only one…
Here’s a quick refresher for those amongst us who aren’t familiar with who exactly Michael Langdon is:
Michael Langdon is the son of Vivien Harmon (the mum from Murder House, played by Connie Britton) and Tate Langdon (your long-term fictional boyfriend from Murder House, played by Evan Peters). Long story short, Vivien became pregnant with twins after Tate dressed up as the Rubberman and raped her.
Throughout her pregnancy, it becomes clear that one baby is developing faster than the other. Vivien gives birth prematurely in the season finale of Murder House to the two babies; one still born human baby and one fully grown thriving non-human baby. She dies shortly after and the surviving baby is taken by Constance Langdon and named Michael. Flash forward a few years and we see that Michael has murdered his nanny in cold blood.
“HOW did a three year old murder a grown adult”, we hear you cry? As predicted by Sarah Paulson’s Billie Dean Howard previously, she explains that “a child born of human and spirit will usher in the end of times.” Which means Michael is, quite literally, the Antichrist.
In episode 6 (‘Return To Murder House’), we learned more about Michael’s childhood, via his grandmother Constance Langdon (Jessica Lange). Michael was a dangerous child who killed bugs and rats, and later moved on to killing grown adults. He grew into a teenager overnight (!!) and eventually became uncontrollable. He was found by a group of Satanists and after an insane ritual realises that he is the Antichrist.
Needless to say, when everyone suddenly clocked exactly who Michael Langdon was, they lost it.
From the people who were just realising his true identity for the first time, and others knowing exactly what his appearance means for everyone in the American Horror Story universe, the audience was shook.
Yep, he is THAT bitch.
Surprise bitch, bet you thought you’d seen the last of me.
Venable, baby, what is you doing?
Who let him be in charge?! Seriously…
This seven year old boy is really out here looking a 25-year-old, huh?
Who the fuck does Michael Langdon think he is? He is literally 7 YEARS OLD someone put his ass to bed #AHSApocalypse

The anti-Christ ages faster than normal humans, remember?
RIP to everyone in that Outpost tbh.
Eyes like his father… hair like his mother.
MICHAEL’S GROWN ASS IS ABOUT TO DESTROY US ALL.
Me not remembering S1 of AHS looking at Michael Langdon and not remembering who he is and then remembering he’s the antichrist that was born in the first season of AHS and now he’s full grown and ready to destroy the world. I AM SHOOK #AmericanHorrorStory pic.twitter.com/olc8X7OEIC
